According to a recent comScore report, it appears that the T-Mobile G1 has become the biggest money maker for T-Mobile. For most, this may not come as much of a surprise, but the reason behind the biggest money maker title is not just because of the phone itself.

G1 getting new features in April

T-Mobile will push out a major firmware update to users of the G1 Android handset in April, the mobile operator has said.

The update will introduce features such as virtual keyboards and stereo Bluetooth support, as well as an upgrade of the underlying Linux kernel. The guys over at iSuppli have taken apart a T-Mobile G1 handset and calculated the “Bill of Materials” (BOM) cost and the figure is surprising.  For a shade under $144, you can build your own G1 device.  That is of course, providing you have the same bulk purchase discounts and know-how.
